Job Title: Preschool Assistant Director

Reports to: Preschool Director
Assist in the planning, development, and administration of all programming and education for the Bennett Program.
Essential Functions / Requirements:
Must currently be Large Center Director Qualified by the State of Colorado, Department of Human Service’s standards or be qualified within 6 months of employment.
Must meet Early Childhood Teacher qualifications as determined by the State of Colorado.
Assists in planning, developing, and implementing The Reggio Approach and Forest School approach into the daily life at Bennett.
Supports, models and implements the behavior management philosophy and methods of the Preschool and the YMCA.
Develops children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills throughout the day.
Shares in the responsibility for the safety of the children in her/his care with the ability to predict and prevent, identify and respond to safety problems.
Participates in parent conferences on assigned children a minimum of two times a year.
Documents observations of children throughout the year including the children’s portfolios.
Must possess current First Aid and Infant, Child and Adult CPR certifications.
Must possess a current Medication Administration training certificate or be able to take a course within one month of employment.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must possess basic computer skills including familiarity with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Assumes all director responsibilities including handling emergency situations when Preschool Director is not available.
Contributes to the overall upkeep of the building and the program.
Must enjoy working with youth.
Opens or closes the school as assigned.
Other Functions / Requirements:
Must possess a valid, USA state issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
Support the Association safety program. Promote safe work practices and a safe environment for guests, members and staff.
Uphold the YMCA of the Rockies Mission, policies and programs.
Uphold and reflect the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in all functions.
Promote a cooperative, positive and problem-solving atmosphere at all times.
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a diverse environment.

This is a full time (40 hours/week), year round position, with full benefits including health/dental/life insurance, vacation/PTO, participation in the YMCA retirement plan, complimentary nights at both Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch (with some date restrictions based on season/occupancy), and a YMCA of the Rockies family membership. ABOUT BENNETT PRESCHOOL
Bennett Children’s Building History - The Bennett Children’s Building was built in 1965 with funds donated by Richard and Angela Bennett. The building was designed to serve young children and has continued to be used for that purpose. Mr. Bennett served on the board of directors of the YMCA of the Rockies/Estes Park Center for 13 years in addition to serving on YMCA national, Omaha and Nebraska boards. Over forty years later, the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett still benefits the children of the Estes Park area and the guests of the YMCA.

Our belief about the child’s right to play and explore is why we are inspired by the Reggio Approach to learning as well as the outdoor school approach to education.
