Wisdom keeper Culture Bearer- Seasonal

JOB STATEMENT/PURPOSE:
The Wisdom Keeper Culture Bearer – Seasonal collaborates with program staff in planning, developing and implementing programs and activities for visitors of all ages.
Summer Season runs May – Sept. Winter Season runs Oct. – April.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn and share about traditional Alaska Native language, fishing, art, plants, hunting, dancing, storytelling, etc.
- Share Alaska Native Culture with Interns and general visiting public
- Be knowledgeable about the Center’s mission, direction, and history.
- Provide information on Hall of Cultures exhibits, village sites, activities, performances, and performers.
- Assist artists and performers as needed.
- Assist with training and orientation of seasonal staff.
- Cultural Awareness Workshops— assists with presentations at CAW’s as needed.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures, Alaska Native history, Tribes, ANCSA, etc.
- Individual will need good communication skills; must be able to lead and instruct a group of youth interns in an effective manner.
- Individual must have the ability to multi-task and have the ability to use good judgment.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Additional duties as assigned based on needs of the business.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Weather:
- Indoors: Primarily in an environmentally controlled office;
- Outdoors: Ability to work outside in all weather conditions typical for Anchorage Alaska.

- Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
