Retail Clerk-PT


Retail Clerk will support the daily operations of the gift shop, checking out guests at the register, restocking inventory and engaging shoppers who visit the gift shop.


  1. Greet customers in the Gift Shop.
  2. Develop a working knowledge of Alaska Native Culture and art
  3. Work POS system to process transactions.
  4. Execute clerical functions and paperwork in retail store, including daily sales reports and balancing of the cash register daily.
  5. Execute Point of Sale (register) database functions, including inventory control
  6. Assist in handling inventory order deliveries
  7. Maintain, manage, and organize merchandise on the shelves and racks in the store
  8. Assist and support the Gift Shop manager in ensuring the smooth running of the store
  9. Ensure excellent retail experiences to customers
  10. Maintaining the store, including cleaning, arranging, and when necessary stocking the shelves
  11. Reports to the manager when difficulties arises


  1. Able to perform basic math, writing and reading tasks without supervision
  2. Able to comfortably stand for extended period of time
  3. Considerable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


  1. Stock product as necessary, make sure all displays are kept stocked, neat and clean within the guidelines of the ANHC guidelines.
  2. Ensure a safe work area.  Keeping sales floor clean, this includes sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
  3. Give accurate helpful information to ANHC visitors.
  4. Other tasks and duties based on the needs of the business.


  1. While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
  2. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  3. Ability to work in Alaska weather extremes.
  4. Job will generally be performed in a retail environment.
