JOB TITLE:                    Cultural Programs Coordinator - Unguwat

CLASSIFICATION:   Non-Exempt; hourly

 

JOB STATEMENT/PURPOSE:

Support delivery of project outcomes working under the direction of the Program Manger.  Coordinate and provide campus outreach, responsive direct services to the service population, and organization of public events, including coordinating dance practices and traditional native games practice; and to develop responsive programming, and in the community, designed to foster social connection, mental health, and resilience and prevent suicide and substance misuse. Cultural Programs Coordinator will follow-up with grant reporting of program activities and credit by choice as well as monitoring of program budgeting and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grant:

  1. Constant review of budget and objective work plan.
  2. Working with Program Manager, at the end of the grant year gather participant evaluation data, compile written report.
  3. Understanding of budget requirements.

Marketing:

  1. Assist in advertising through major media, poster, flyers, email list, web site, social media, e-newsletters, and word-of-mouth.
  2. Share the successes of the program with community and project partners via social media, ANHC newsletter, and email.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  1. One to three years prior experience working in a grant program.
  2. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
  3. Valid driver’s license required. 
  4. Experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian population and experience providing culturally specific services  
  5. Ability to operate advanced office equipment such as personal computer, with knowledge to utilize standard Microsoft based software.

Knowledge:

  1. Interest in building knowledge of substance abuse and mental health Interest in building knowledge of culture is prevention model

Skills:

  1. Skill in working successfully with the Alaska Native/American Indian population
  2. Skill in providing culturally specific programming
  3. Skill in understanding of and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles
  4. Skill in managing multiple, concurrent priorities, meeting deadlines, projects
  5. Skill in Microsoft Office Applications
  6. Skill in organizational structures
  7. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, community partners, and participants

Abilities:

  1. Ability to work independently as well as with teams
  2. Ability to write professionally
  3. Ability to report to work in a timely manner
  4. Ability to communicate effectively
  5. Ability to apply customer service concepts and practices

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with partner agencies and service providers
  2. Stay informed about the latest developments in the field
  3. Additional duties as assigned based on needs of the business.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Weather:

  1. Indoors: Primarily in an environmentally controlled office, on or off-site; Open office space with cubicles
  2. Outdoors: Ability to work in all Alaska weather conditions.

Noise level:

  1. Quiet to moderate, with occasional periods of extreme loudness

Physical requirements:

  1. Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  2. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
