Manager of Facilities, Transportation and Safety


This position oversees and evaluates all aspects of facility maintenance, including contracted specialists, budget control, security, fire protection, OSHA compliance, HVAC, janitorial, grounds keeping, snow removal, event support, pest management, and the strategic evaluation of future capital needs. In addition, this position oversees the safe operation and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment as well as ensuring compliance with Alaska and Federal commercial transportation regulations.  This position is often called upon to act as project management for major construction and renovations.


Facilities Oversight:

  1. Oversees the Maintenance Supervisor’s management of worker shift scheduling, janitorial, HVAC active and preventative maintenance, common facility repair such as painting and floor cleaning, security and key control, grounds keeping and snow removal.


  1. Working with the Maintenance Supervisor and the Transportation and Safety Lead, ensures compliance with Federal and State Department of Transportation and Federal and State Safety Regulations. 
  2. Drivers will be in compliance with insurance requirements and drug testing.
  3. Ensures manufacturer and DOT vehicle safety standards are being followed.  
  4. Ensures that the Safety Lead keeps all records related to compliance on file and easily accessible.

Budget Control:

  1. Creates budget for upcoming fiscal year with regard to all of these duties and assists in future capital need assessment. 


  1. Minimum of five years of direct transportation experience. 
  2. Minimum of one year supervisory experience. 
  3. Must have great customer service skills, and maintain high level of professionalism. 
  4. Knowledge of the Anchorage bowl, and dealing with passengers such as students and tourists. 
  5. Must have excellent customer service skills.
  6. Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.  Some college preferred, or equivalent experience. 
  7. Full knowledge of Department of Transportation, local traffic, and State of Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles rules and regulations.
  8. Class C CDL, with passenger endorsement required.  Must have clean driving record.
  9.  CPR certification also required.


  1. Additional duties as assigned based on needs of the business.



  1. Indoors: Primarily in an environmentally controlled office;
  2. Outdoors: Ability to work in all Alaska weather conditions.

  1. Quiet to noisy.

Physical requirements:

  1. Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  2. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
