Job Title:   Retail Sales Associate - Mountain Shop

Reports to: Retail & Tickets Manager                                                Status: Full/Part-Time Seasonal

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt                                                   Wage: DOE

Job Summary: Communicate effectively with customers to determine their buying needs. Recommend the right product to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction.  Inspire the customer to buy, celebrate the purchase, and then leave with a positive impression of Red Lodge Mountain.

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction with efficient, friendly service.
  • Set up advertising displays and arrange merchandise on counters, tables, and shelves to promote sales.
  • Prepare merchandise for sale (enter into inventory, tag, hang, display).
  • Use literature and available training resources to stay up to date on product features in order to educate the consumer.
  • Provide information regarding services and products and answer any preliminary questions customers have.
  • Accurately ring up customer purchases, receive money, and give change using a PC point of sales system.
  • Keep sales floor, other sales areas, storage areas, and GPO bathrooms stocked, clean, and organized.
  • Shovel and clear snow around retail locations when necessary.
  • Assist with data entry related to retail merchandise/inventory.
  • Follow closing procedures as outlined in RTP/Cash Handling Training.
  • Participate in monthly inventory of merchandise.
  • Advise Retail Manager of any concerns or suggestions as appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of Red Lodge Mountain products and events.
  • Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Assist other departments as necessary.

Required:

  • Ability to process information/merchandise through computer POS system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
  • General understanding of the principles of sales.
  • Positive and energetic attitude with customer service focus.
  • Must have flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Experience/Education:

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 year’s experience in retail sales or related experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Experience in ski/golf industry

Must be capable of walking or standing 80% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift.  Must be capable of occasionally lifting and pushing or pulling 50 lbs or more, and frequently lifting, pushing or pulling, and carrying up to 30 lbs. Must be capable of walking on snow and ice. Must be able to bend, kneel, and reach.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.
