Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:

• Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of lift maintenance department.
• Schedule routine and preventative maintenance as needed. Establish and maintain a work order system to fulfill repair requests.
• Ensure company meets all ANSI, OSHA, USFS, and Federal requirements in regard to lifts.
• Facilitate all annual and seasonal inspections, testing, and permitting according to both insurance and Federal requirements. 
• Maintain a leadership role in all aspects of risk management. Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with our safety program and focused on providing a safe work environment.
• Maintain inventory control and order parts and supplies.
• Assure that all records are maintained and kept up-to-date, including all mechanical and operational procedures, daily maintenance, operational logs, lift failures, and incidents.
• Maintain responsibility and accountability during abnormal or unusual conditions, incidents, or system malfunctions.
• Work with Human Resources to interview, hire, train, and appraise performance of employees.
• Provide supervision and guidance to employees in accordance with RLM policies and State/Federal employment laws.
• Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling.
• Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, reviews, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources when necessary.
• Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of department processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
• Manage the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department. Prepare periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with other managers, directors, general manager, and other designated contacts within the organization.
• Assist subordinates and other departments in performing duties whenever necessary.  Perform duties of lift mechanic and operator as needed.

Required:

• Extensive mechanical/electrical maintenance skills, knowledge, and successful experience.
• Working knowledge of all types of electrical equipment including DC motors, DC variable speed drives, battery powered low voltage 24VDC controls.
• Able to read electrical schematics and understand symbols and many different manufacturer schematic layouts.
• Comfortable using heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, line equipment, rigging, and electrical equipment.
• Intermediate or better proficiency in downhill skiing or snowboarding and ability to operate a snowmobile.
• Ability to work on high structures, outside, and under inclement weather.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals and legal documents.
• Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and direct employees, serve customers, and maintain excellent customer service during high stress situations.
• Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic economic, budgeting, and accounting principles and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the organization's management team.
• Safety orientated and able to train employees on safety procedures of equipment used.
• Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• General knowledge of various employment laws and practices and employee relations.
• Evidence of the ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.
• Available to work holidays and/or weekends.
• Maintain a valid Driver’s License.

 

Preferred:

• Welding and fabrication experience a plus, but not required.

 

Experience/Education:

Required:

• Five years lift maintenance experience.
• Supervisory/management/leadership experience.
• Expertise of mechanical concepts and principles as related to hydraulics, lubrications, power transmission, rotating machinery, and electricity.
• Familiarity with state and federal environmental standards and OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge of the ski industry.

Preferred:

• A Certificate or Degree that has a relevant application to the field of Lift Maintenance

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear and smell.  The employee is frequently required to handle objects, tools, or controls.  Must be capable of walking or standing 90% or more of a normal 10-hour work shift and lifting and moving 100 lbs. or more.  Must be able to walk on uneven terrain and snow and ice, shovel snow, bend, climb, and stoop for extended periods of time. Must ski or snowboard at an intermediate to expert skill level.  Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception.
