Alaska Canopy Adventures - Juneau

Boat Captain

Responsible for the safe and timely transfer of guests, employees and equipment between the tour site and dock. This position requires strong risk management skills and knowledge of Juneau and Douglas Island waterways.

Summary of Essential Job Functions
· Ensures safe and timely transfers of guests and employees
· Remains in constant radio and/or cell phone contact with tour coordinators and the tour site
· Performs daily and weekly boat maintenance and repairs small malfunctions
· Ensures guests are greeted with warm welcome and provides excellent customer service
· Ensures that safety procedures are completed before the departure of the boat
· Ensures all guests are properly informed about the safety procedures onboard and predeparture safety speech is performed
· Provides information to guests highlighting the local area and the Treadwell Mine
· Ensures all participants have completed the canopy tour waiver, collects and then gives waivers to canopy guides upon arrival to tour site
· Prepares daily schedules for marine personnel

Minimum requirements
• High School Degree or equivalent
Must have valid USCG 25ton captain license
• Must be able to obtain TWIC card.
• Strong Risk Management skills
• Must complete the training program for First Aid/CPR/AED course
• Speaks fluent English and use cordial manners
• Maintains a professional appearance at all times and follows the company policies
• Ability to work long hours and irregular shifts in a multi-task environment

Abilities required
• This position may require sitting and/or standing and walking for long periods of time
