Alaska Canopy Adventures - Juneau

Deck Hand

Deck hand is responsible for assisting customers embarking/dis-embarking the boat in a safe and timely manner. This position requires prior familiarity with boat safety procedures and gives precedent to knowledge of Juneau and Douglas Island waterways.

Summary of essential job functions
• Ensures guests are greeted with warm welcome and provides excellent customer service
• Performs pre-departure safety speech and ensures all guests properly informed about the safety procedures on-board
• Explains to guests the highlights of local area and informs them about the Treadwell Mine
• Provides the waiver form to guests, collects and transfers the completed form to canopy guides
• Helps perform daily and weekly boat maintenance and repairs/fix small malfunctions
• Cleans and maintains boat on daily basis

Minimum requirements
• High Scholl Degree or equivalent
• Strong Risk Management skills required
• Must possess First Aid/CPR/AED certification
• Speaks fluent English and uses cordial manners
• Maintains a professional appearance at all times and follows the company policies
• Ability to work long hours and irregular shifts in a multi-task environment

Abilities required
• This position may require standing and walking for long periods of time
