Position Description


Title:                            Ticket Counter Agent

Department:                Dispatch

Responsible to:            Station Manager


Job Summary:

The ticket counter agent is responsible for ticketing passengers and freight, answering phones, booking reservations, retail and assisting customers knowledgeably, professionally and efficiently.


Summary of Essential job functions

  • Responsible for ticketing passengers and freight
  • Knowledgeable of our destinations, rates and fares
  • Responsible for quoting charter flights and lake trips
  • Ability to use all required company forms and comply with company procedures
  • Ability to handle all  ticketing done at our base of operations
  • Diligently answer phones, assist passengers and book reservations in a professional manner
  • Maintain constant contact with dispatch regarding flights, delays and cancellations
  • Communicate to passengers any delays, weather challenges or cancellations when directed
  • Meeting and greeting passengers
  • Assisting with passenger loading and unloading as needed
  • Filling out bush pilot certificates and issuing them to passengers
  • Establishing a warm, welcome, and friendly relationship with each customer
  • Knowledgeable of all Taquan Air products
  • Relaying information to transfer company personal
  • Familiar with and execute Medallion Program
  • Participate in all company training
  • Notify freight department of arriving freight and baggage
  • Responsible for handling cash and credit card machine
  • Responsible for complying with opening and closing procedures
  • Assisting customers with retail sales
  • Responsible for keeping retail stocked and inventory updated
  • Responsible for keeping lobby and work area clean
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Minimum requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of the tourism industry
  • Must have a strong Risk Management orientation
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills to effectively deal with the traveling public and other employees.
  • Speak fluent English and have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks
  • Must maintain a professional appearance at all times and follow company uniform policy
  • Knowledge of software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Valid Alaska drivers license and good driving record



Physical and Mental Abilities required

  • Ability to work long hours, evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Lift 50lbs
