Director of Operations

Job Summary

Year-round full-time position responsible for leadership & management of Part 135 Certificated Air Carrier consisting of a fleet of 15 seaplanes, DHC-3T, DHC-2 & Amphibious Cessna Caravan. Areas of responsibility include oversight of safety, flight and ground operations, dispatch, maintenance, freight, and dock operations. Position requires strong leadership skills, commitment to organizationís values of safety, customer service and profitable growth.  2017 was Taquan Airís 10th year as a Medallion Shield Carrier.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for maintaining a strong and active company safety program and culture

  • Responsible for all flight and ground operations safety

  • Maintain operational control over flight and ground operations

  • Responsible for maintaining the Medallion Shield

  • Operations Manual maintenance, revision and distribution

  • Company liaison with the FAA and other regulators

  • Oversight of employee hiring and pilot selection

  • Oversight over all FAA and regulatory required records and recordkeeping

  • Provide leadership for managers and all company employees

  • Company training pilot and check airman

  • Company Anti-Drug Program manager

  • FAA Part 135 Pilot Qualified in DHC-2 and C-208 and instrument proficient preferred

  • Experience developing flight operations policies, procedures, and managing budgets

  • P&L responsibility


    Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with land, float, instrument, and flight instructors ratings

  • 3 years experience within the last 6 years, as a manager or pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part FAR. Part 135

  • 3 years minimum Management/Operations experience


    Physical Abilities Required

  • Good communication and leadership qualities

  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision

  • Sound decision making and problem solving skills

  • Ability to analyze operating data and financial reports

  • Must be able to comfortably lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work long seasonal hours

  • Proficient with computers, typing, and Microsoft Office Suite-MS Excel, Word
